Name: Josh Shalen
University: Indiana University
Graduating Year: 2018
Major (+Minor): Accounting and Finance
Internship Company: Krypton Venture Capital
Internship Role: Fund Analyst
Awesome Experience: “My time at Krypton VC has opened my eyes to the fast paced, exciting world of venture capital. First, I learned about how traditional VCs offer value to their investors and portfolio companies alike, and then Krypton taught me their unique investing philosophy, which turns traditional VC on its head. I have loved learning each new aspect of the industry and getting to know all of the great people Krypton who have taught me so much this summer. Not only have they taught me a lot, but we have built a relationship that will benefit Krypton and TAMID at Indiana. During the school year, IU will consult for Krypton’s portfolio companies, which will both strengthen the companies and the members of TAMID’s chapter. Krypton has dedicated itself to adding value to their companies and the Israeli economy while championing education among American business students. However, I have not just learned from my coworkers. I have also learned from my fellow TAMID Fellows. Whether we are exchanging articles about interesting developments in the high tech world or sharing our TAMID chapter’s best practices, I have enjoyed hearing the unique perspectives of my peers that challenge me to do better and to make my Indiana community better.”
Fun Fact: Even though I work for a company that is obsessed with Superman (who is from the planet Krypton), I wear Batman socks to work on a regular basis.

TAMID at University of Michigan

Name: Matt Caplan
University:University of Michigan
Graduating Year: 2018
Major (+Minor): Business
Internship Company: Innovision Labs
Internship Role: Data Analytics and Marketing Intern
Awesome Experience: Throughout my short
time at Innovision Labs I have learned a great deal of information. Half of the time I analyze big data with the hopes of optimizing our application, GlassesOff, ultimately increasing company revenues. The other half of my time encompasses spending time doing market research and implementing go-to-market strategies to expand our app user base. All of this learning happens in an amazing startup incubator, where I have been able to form connections with other companies while also enjoying myself using the ping-pong table and other amenities.
Fun Fact: This is my first time out of the USA for more than 10 days.

Name: Shira Kitay
University:University of Michigan
Graduating Year:2018
Major (+Minor):Business Administration
Internship Company:SimpleOrder
Internship Role: Marketing Intern
Awesome Experience: One of my main jobs this summer is to find ways to get the SimpleOrder name out to our target customers. I’ve been doing a lot of research and outreach to achieve this, and I’ve learned a lot about marketing in the process.
Fun Fact: I’m a huge foodie!

Name: Allison Wanderer
University: University of Michigan
Graduating Year: 2018
Major (+Minor): Information, Political Science
Internship Company: Xhibition
Internship Role: Business Development Intern
Awesome Experience: The TAMID weekend retreats have been a major highlight this summer. Not only do I love spending Shabbat with all 120 fellows, but I also really value our TAMID-related breakout sessions. We get into small groups and discuss, debate, and resolve issues regarding the organization on both national and local levels. Because I am on the national branding committee, in Haifa I facilitated a conversation about TAMID’s national image – what we stand for and how to express that. This past weekend in Nitzana, I really enjoyed our seminar on TAMID expansion, especially our elevator-pitch workshop! The overall best part is knowing that just like these meetings, the entire organization is student-led and that together we can truly make a difference.
Fun Fact: At my internship, I work with non-TAMID students. After (constantly!) hearing about the TAMID organization and summer fellowship, they are looking into starting TAMID chapters at their respective schools!

Name: Suzy Weiss

Internship Company: Heymann Brothers Films
Internship Role: Business Development
Awesome Experience: I’ve never worked in the film industry before– at the beginning of the summer I saw my company’s new movie in theaters. And now I’m working on the behind the scenes distribution so other countries will have the opportunity to see it too.
Fun Fact: I’m a sympathetic crier

Name: David Brystowski
University: University of Michigan
Graduating Year: 2018
Major (+Minor): Organizational Studies
Internship Company: Krypton Venture Capital
Internship Role: Business Development
Awesome Experience: Together with the CEO of one of the VC’s portfolio companies, I put together an investor pitch that the CEO gave at a Spanish investor conference in Barcelona. It ended up being a hit at the conference, and it was very cool to be given an opportunity to have a meaningful impact on a company like that.

Name: Saul Feit

Awesome Experience: My fellowship experience has its roots in the moments spent with TAMID people from across the country. I love every moment from the first night at the beach in Haifa, to Shabbats in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem surrounded by new friends who feel like old ones. My time at Parko has also been filled with great memories: along with the work, I have bonded with my coworkers and fellow interns. These collective moments and memories have built up what is for me the greatest summer of my life.
