TAMID Staff: Yonah Liben, Fellowship Director
Fellowship Friends and Family,
My name is Yonah Liben, TAMID Group’s Chief Program Officer and head of the Israel office. TAMID’s four-person Israel Team oversees all aspects of the summer Fellowship, including cultivating and maintaining relationships with top Israeli companies, managing the process of admitting and placing our Fellowship cohorts, and running the program itself.
This summer, 240 outstanding TAMID students will spend a full 8 weeks in Israel interning for firms that run the gamut from startups to multinational companies. We will inter-splice TAMID’s business programming with opportunities for Fellows to explore and experience firsthand the amazing landscape and diverse culture of Israel.
This year was our biggest and most competitive Fellowship application season yet: nearly 500 students applied for positions! We have Fellows coming from 55 campuses around the world, and our cohorts comprise of students from 27 different countries. Thus, not only is the 2018 Fellowship class its most competitive, but from China to Canada, Brazil to Bulgaria, India to Kenya, and beyond — our summer’s students will also be the most diverse to date.
My team and I work diligently year-round to maximize the impact of the TAMID Fellowship. Our goal is to provide a platform for Fellowship participants to gain invaluable business experiences in the unique entrepreneurial hub that is Israel. Students not only benefit from hands-on immersive internships with some of the most innovative companies on the planet, they also build strong and long-lasting relationships with Israel.
Working at TAMID is wonderful for many reasons, but one that resonates particularly is being part of the platform that provides connection points between an extremely diverse community of young, bright minds from all backgrounds – Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Jewish, Muslim, Atheist, Jain, you name it – while experiencing the Startup Nation!
Thus, the ability to work in close proximity with such a talented group of young adults and help give them meaningful experiences related to Israel, continues to be refreshing and invigorating every day.
As the weather heats up in Israel, the Fellowship staff is in deep preparation mode for the summer. We are in the midst of one of the most exciting moments all year, during which we work day and night matching admitted Fellows with companies. By early May we will present our summer calendar as we inch closer to the the start of the TAMID Summer Fellowship.
Whether you are an incoming Fellowship student, family member, or friend, I want to make sure you know we are always available by email (yonah@tamidgroup.org).
Check back shortly for our next blog post — looking forward to keeping you in the loop on all things TAMID Fellowship related!
Sincerely,
Yonah Liben
