Ben Dayanim
Name: Ben Dayanim
University: University of Maryland
Graduating Year: 2018
Major (+Minor): Finance & Information Systems
Internship Company: LionBird Venture Capital
Internship Role: Venture Analyst
Awesome Experience: Working at LionBird has been an invaluable experience. When interning in the states, meaningful work can be hard to come by. Here, however, I’m lucky enough to be working closely with and learning directly from talented investors and ex-entrepreneurs on an everyday basis. I’ve gotten to participate in startup pitches each week, ask questions alongside the partners at LionBird, and source deals. I couldn’t ask for a more hands-on experience.
Fun Fact: I have 7 guitars (and counting)

Awesome Experience: My internship at Clarity Capital has been incredible. I’ve learned more than I could have ever imagined in such a short amount of time. Since day one, I have been welcomed into the company with open arms. Everyone is so willing to teach and guide me through the complex world of finance. I’ve been given real responsibility to help launch the firm’s new private debt fund, write 15-page investment reports on multiple hedge funds, and analyze European bank stocks after Brexit. My time at Clarity has helped me find a niche within finance that I love and allowed me to gain experience that I will surely use next summer and beyond.
Fun Fact: I’ve always wanted to play the drums, so I decided to take drum lessons this coming year!

Awesome Experience: Interning for a startup in Tel Aviv has been such an impactful experience! Getting to work along side fellow colleagues who came up with a creative idea not too long ago and are now looking for investors and potential clients has been really neat. Seeing what they’ve been up to and getting to play a role in making our software run smoother has inspired me to hopefully start my own company one day! The Fellowship has been a great balance of applying my technical skills while experiencing a startup’s day-to-say operations! I would highly recommend applying for any Tamidnik looking for great summer!
Fun Fact:I’ve become a pro at saying the Tel Aviv bus stop names with an Israeli accent

Awesome Experience: What an experience it’s been! Tel Aviv is a city like no other. It’s fascinating to watch the city transform from a relaxed place during daytime into a bustling party scene at night. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know a new side of Israel. I’ve been doing some really meaningful work at my internship, where I write and revise content, engage with potential clients via social media, and brainstorm alternative marketing strategies. I’ll miss my office – it’s super awesome. I’ve always been passionate about TAMID, but now I’m ready to take my involvement to the next level. Up from here!

My responsibilities are split between the Business Development Department and the Medical Regulations Department. I conduct market research on international medical devices, and meet/connect with distributors. My other responsibilities include compiling and reviewing protocols for clinical trials along with preparing investigative reports for submission to the FDA. I love working in a fast-paced, flexible environment with innovative people where I make an impact every day.

Name: Sydney Exler
University: Brandeis University
Graduating Year: 2018
Major (+Minor): Business, English
Internship Company: Mangrove Capital Partners
Internship Role: Summer Intern
Awesome Experience: I’ve been working with my boss to develop a way to strategically move our firm into actively pursuing seed investments in Israel. This has been an incredible experience, because it covers so much – I’ve attended demo days for accelerator programs, met with professionals who own companies that help early stage start-ups, sat in on company pitches, prepared research on various industries, and a ton more. Two of the reasons I love my internship is that it is incredibly dynamic, and I have the freedom to be independent. I don’t think I am ever doing the same thing for more than 4 days, so I’ve gotten to learn about many different aspects of working at a VC, as well as gain a deeper insight into a lot of different industries. While my boss gives me projects and has certain expectations, I really have the freedom to approach these projects in my own way, and genuinely explore and learn. I’m so lucky and happy to have this experience!
Fun Fact: Mangrove was an early investor in Skype and Wix!
Andrew Jacobson

Graduating Year: 2019
Major (+Minor): Undeclared
Internship Company: sFBI
Internship Role: Marketing and Business Development Intern
Awesome Experience:It’s been awesome exploring and immersing ourselves in Israel’s startup ecosystem. TAMID does a fantastic job of allowing us to meet a whole variety of entrepreneurs and VCs from across the country. One of the highlights was definitely this past weekend when a bunch of us spent Shabbat in Tiberias; we got an Airbnb right by the Kineret. It was beautiful and so great to relax for a day during a Fellowship packed with events and programming. Ultimately, I think the best part of the summer has for sure been the people. Spending quality time with quality people in a quality city, that what I’m going to miss most.
Fun Fact: Both my parents are identical twins!

Awesome Experience: I have been to Israel numerous times with my family and on different organized programs. However, the TAMID Fellowship has given me the opportunity to experience and live in an area I had not spent much time in before this trip: Tel Aviv. Tel Aviv is amazing. I love living in a place where there is so much going on and everyone is different. I have also never worked in Israel and am learning a lot about the country from a business perspective. This experience has made my appreciation and love for Israel grow!

Internship Role: Marketing Intern and Website Development
Awesome Experience: “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts”- The entire summer has been amazing and no one moment has stood out above all others. I’ve been working on cleaning up our website and marketing our products through an email newsletter. I can bring back experience, advice (I quit my first job), and knowledge back to the future fellows at Brandeis. I haven’t yet met my professional goals in this internship, however I have gained invaluable experience and real, productive work at a true small business; Something that I might not have been able to get anywhere else.
Fun Fact: I cry myself to sleep every night
